According to the Chicago Sun Times, R. Kelly’s mansion was sold to JP Morgan Chase for less than $1 million dollars.

The gargantuan mansion — at 22,000 square feet — was once valued at more than $5 million. The home has 6 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms (8 full and 6 half-baths), an indoor pool, and a theatre.  The R&B icon is said to still owe more than $2.9 million on it.

Now that the bank owns it, Kelly — or anyone who may be living in the home — is subject to eviction. The Chicago Sun Times article states:

If he hasn’t already, controversial R&B artist R. Kelly should be readying to move everything — including anything trapped in closets — out of his south suburban mansion.

Foreclosure Settlement Watered Down: Benefits Banks More than Homeowners

There’s new evidence that a $9.3 billion home foreclosure settlement to help homeowners is less beneficial than it might seem.

After trumpeting the deal, the OCC late last week released copies of the new agreements with 13 banks. Buried in the details (Article IV of the PDF documents linked at the bottom of the press release, to be exact) are a few ways the settlement waters down the amount of help banks must extend to borrowers.
